Four People Feared Dead In Benue in Recent Heards Men Attack




Fulani Heards Men attack some Local Government in Benue State leading to the death of four People and leaving scores injured from the attack. The attack was believed to occur after soldiers raided the heards men camp which lead to the death of their cattles.


One of the victims Family who anonymously spoke to the media said that he believed the OPWS were playing politics with the death of the community people. Though, he gave the names of those killed during the attack as Terlumun Uke, Apaagu Mlange, Samuel Dwem and Delaba Dwem.

Speaking on media after the reported attack, OPWS was forced to come forward and denied the accusations made on the attack by heards men in Logo LGA is false. The sources said, “Please, note that the rumour being peddled by some people that armed herdsmen killed four or more people in Logo LGA is not true. 

“OPWS troops conducted an overnight operation during which an open camp set up by some armed herdsmen along River Benue bank at Anyibe was destroyed.
“Some of the armed elements that attempted to cross back into Nasarawa got their boat capsized during the exchange of fire. It is therefore likely that the armed group might have suffered some casualties during the encounter.
“Our troops that participated in the operation did not sustain any casualty and no civilian was killed during the incident.
“Please, disregard any list of purported civilian casualties being circulated as it is fake,” he stated.

Though, the Authorities have come out to deny such attacks, the family of the victims insisted that there was indeed an attack and he went further to state that OPWS is trying to play politics by denying the attacks that lead to the death of four people including one of his family members.
