Why I Lost The Governorship Election — Jimi Agbaje

Jimi Agbaje has revealed he lost the Lagos Governorship election to the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu. In an interview with PUNCH shortly after the result of the governorship election was announced, Jimi Agbaje who lamented the low voter turnout in Lagos State, said it was less than 20 per cent of the total number of persons that collected Permanent Voter Cards. He further said that  threats, coupled with the manner in which the presidential election was conducted, led to the voter apathy witnessed in the nation’s commercial nerve centre. Jimi Agbaje also disclosed that he lost the Lagos Governorship election as many of his supporters were intimidated, and even threatened with eviction and sack if the PDP won in their areas. He added that rather than risk their lives and their livelihood, the people decided to sit at home which gave his opponent the upper hand.

The People's Democratic Party defeats the All Progressive Congress in the just concluded Governorship election in Adamawa State. The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has defeated the All Progressive Congress (APC) to clinch victory at the state governorship election held on Saturday. By this, Jibrila Bindow, the state governor and APC candidate, seeking a second term in office has lost his re-election bid to Ahmadu Fintiri, candidate of the PDP in the election. The result announced by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) showed that Mr Fintiri polled 367,471 votes to emerge the winner. The outgoing governor, Mr Bindow, polled 334,995 votes to come second.

The Former Nigerian Head of State, General Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida (IBB) has congratulated the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria on his re-election into the office of the President. Following the conclusion of the general election, which the president won by over 15.000.000 votes over his nearest challenger, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former head of state has sent his congratulatory message to the president. "I congratulate the Nigerian electorate who conducted themselves peacefully during the voting process; they were enthusiastic to exercise their democratic rights of electing candidates of their choice. Sadly, due to violence in some part of the country, lives were lost and I would like to extend my heartfelt condolences to their families for the death of their loved ones." Said IBB.

UK Confirm INEC Result as Credible

United Kingdom has Yesterday on the 27th of February 2019 confirmed the Nigeria 2019 Presidential Election as Credible. Speaking through the Minister of state for Africa, Harriet Baldwin on Wednesday, 27th of February 2019, the Minister confirmed the results of the Presidential election as presented by the Independent National Electoral Commission as Credible and conforming with the results as obtained by the Civil Society Parallel Vote Tabulation Process. Harriet Baldwin said in a Press Conference, “Along with our international partners, the UK believes the Nigerian people can have confidence in the result,” she said.

  Following the announcement made by the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, declaring the President of Nigeria as the winner of the just concluded Presidential election, the Former Vice President of Nigeria rejected the election as presented by the INEC and called the result a sham. "Consequently, I hereby reject the result of the February 23, 2019 sham election and will be challenging it in court." while also, assuring his millions of  supporters that he will contest the results of the election in court. Atiku Abubakar who admitted to the media following calls for him to make the call to the winning candidate, said, he would of course have not shy away from the responsibility of accepting a defeat if the election was conducted in a free and fair manner.

APC wins all NASS seats in Gombe State

The All Progressives Congress (APC) in Gombe State has won all the National Assembly seats declared by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). The presidential candidate of APC, President Muhammadu Buhari also won the presidential election with 402,961 to defeat his closest rival of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP),  former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, who scored 138,484 votes. In the National Assembly elections, APC won the three senatorial and seven House of Representatives seats. In Gombe Central Senatorial District, Sen. Danjuma Goje, retains his seat after securing 110,116 votes to defeat his closest rival of PDP, Alhaji Nasiru Nono, the incumbent Speaker of the state Assembly, who scored 39,760 votes. PDP Asks INEC To Stop Results Collation ‘Immediately’

  The Peoples Democratic Party has rejected the ongoing collation of results by the Independent National Electoral Commission at the International Conference Center, Abuja. As such has called on the Independent body to stop the collation of the results. Addressing a press conference on Tuesday evening, Tanimu Turaki (SAN), Deputy Director (Administration) of the PDP Presidential Campaign Organization, who spoke on behalf of Atiku Abubakar, the PDP presidential candidate, urged the commission to suspend further announcement of results from states.
