Shehu Shagri's Death a Great Lost to Nigeria


The Former Nigerian President who died Late last Night was the President of Nigeria between the year 1979 - 1983, his administration is forever to be known as the first in the second Republic of Nigeria after the handing over of power by General Olusegun Obasanjo.


Shagari died at the age of 93 years and his death has been lamented by many great leaders as the most shocking and a terrible lost to Nigeria and Nigerians alike. Many leaders past and present expressed their consolation at the loss.
Shagari's grandson Bello Shagari said upon his death; I regret announcing the death of my grandfather, H.E Alhaji Shehu Shagari, who died right now after brief illness at the National hospital, Abuja.

After, the rumor ensued at his state of origin (sokoto state) the Governor of Sokoto State Hon. Aminu Tambuwal took to the social media to confirm the death. He said; I regret to Announce the death of former President Shehu Shagari who just passed away at National Hospital Abuja. May his Soul Rest in Peace.

Shagari whose legacies will also include being a Teacher, and held many a posts within tthe Nigerian Ethnic groups most notable among them is the post of Turaki at sokoto, Ochiebuzo of Ogbaland, the Ezediale of Aboucha and the Baba Korede of Ado Ekiti.

Shagari's death is a great loss to Nigeria as he almost single handedly led a successful second republic after transition from the military administration. Nigerians mourns the death of a great leader.
