Nigeria's First Female Phd Holder in Philosophy is Dead




Sophie Oluwole the First Female Nigerian to obtain Doctor of Philosophy in Philoosophy died on Monday 24th of December 2018 at her home town. Professor Oluwole was 82 years old at the time of her death on Monday. She was reported to have died after a brief illness.


Popularly referred to as 'Mamalawo', Professor Oluwole, was a senior lecturer at the University of Lagos and the Chief Executive Officer of Centre for African Culture and Development. She retired from the Department of Philosophy, University of Lagos.
